Message from when designing a new intake manifold.

The long runners have a lower resonance which will improve the tunnel-ram effect at lower RPMs. The stock manifold is great for enhancing low RPM torque given how long they are in OEM form, however, the long runners become detrimental to tunnel-ram effects at high RPM's, which ultimately compromise the engine's ability to draw air into the cylinder during the intake stroke at that RPM band. Granted, these are forced-induction engines so the variables in the calculations on ideal runner length are going to be slightly different, but the effect is still present and will likely be worth pursuing a design to take advantage of it.

Designing a manifold with shorter intake runner length is going to improve high-RPM airflow, which is idea for certain applications. There is no need to go longer than what we already have.
